WHAT’S IN THE MIX?
I make my mixes with food grade products: high end herbs and spices and ONLY Bob’s Red Mill Flours. Oat flour, Barley flour, Brown Rice flour and rolled oats are the basis of my mixes. And its important what’s NOT in them: no wheat, corn, sugar or salt in any of the mixes.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE?
If you bake them the “quick way”(no rolling pin needed) by throwing all the ingredients into a mixer then roll it into a log with your hands, cut to appropriate size for your dog, flatten with your thumb-then we are talking maybe 10 minutes and 25 minutes for baking. You should have around 90 gourmet cookies—cookies you know are good for your dog,( see PRODUCTS page for what YOU add)
WHY SHOULD I BAKE MY OWN DOG TREATS?
They are easy and economical. Maggie's is your recipe for all natural dog treats in minutes. And they last along time-over 90 days, but your dog will have them long gone before then!
Maggie, our wire-fox terrier, is 5 years old. She has always been picky about her treats. I purchased custom baked treats from a nearby shop—which were quite expensive, $5 for a small handful. But she was worth it—until they closed. Then I realized I could do better, after all, some of the treats I brought home she didn’t like! (it turns out Maggie doesn’t like spelt flour-who knew??) So, I started playing around and adding and subtracting ingredients until I found what she liked. For example:
IS THAT REALLY YOUR DOG ON THE LABEL?
Absolutely! And the plaid is the Duncan family tartan
Thanks for trying Maggie's Dog Munchies.
